ACDI/VOCA is currently seeking a Citrus Specialist for an upcoming volunteer assignment in the Republic of Georgia. The host farmer has 10 hectars of tangerine trees and they would like a specialist to review their current production methods and offer suggestions for improvement.

Due to current travel restrictions, this assignment will take place remotely. The selected specialist will work remotely from home and in collaboration with the host farmer, a local volunteer and ACDI/VOCA field staff. Total anticipated time for this assignemnt is approximately 1 week, spread over 2 weeks when the local volunteer will be working with the host farmer.

***As part of the Farmer-to-Farmer Consortium, this assignment is made possible through USAID funding. In accordance to USAID guidelines, any candidates submitted for consideration under this project must have a valid US passport or Green Card.***

Volunteer Qualifications

  • University degree in Horticulture or some other related topic.
  • At least 5 years of experience growing citrus such as Tangerines, Oranges or Lemon.
  • Familiarity with common orchard issues associated with citrus fruit.
  • Proficient computer and social media skills such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, etc.
