Who we’re looking for:
Iron Ox is looking for a meticulous and resourceful manufacturing technician to help us realize our vision for an optimized, intelligent farm. You will play a vital role in bringing our new hardware systems to life. This role will work closely with operations and engineering teams to build, commission, and maintain automated greenhouse systems. We are rapidly scaling our operations, and are looking for someone who’s excited to be involved in all aspects of our hardware systems. Along with building our new robotics and automation systems, you will take a proactive approach to improving our hardware quality, processes, and reliability.
You will be responsible for the assembly, maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of Iron Ox’s electro-mechanical systems. Along with the build of new systems, you will support our operations by maintaining production equipment and performing preventative maintenance. This is a full time role that requires a strong attention to detail and adherence to a high quality standard.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Prototyping, manufacturing, assembly, and maintaining of electro-mechanical equipment in both our San Carlos and Gilroy facilities
- Enhancing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) practices
- Technical troubleshooting of automation and robotic equipment
- Creation and implementation of SOPs
- Maintaining shop inventories for consumables, hardware, and production components
- Maintaining workshop standards, organization, and best practices
- Collaborate with and provide support to staff within production and manufacturing environments
- Follow standard operating procedures in a safe and compliant manner
- Take a proactive approach to identifying process deficiencies and implementing improvements with the larger team
- Weekly reporting through Jira to ensure maintenance and production tasks are completed in a timely manner
- Handle work requests submitted for engineering and manufacturing projects
Requirements (Education and Experiences)

- Academic experience in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant disciplines
- Able to read one-line diagrams, P&ID’s, blueprints and schematics
- Strong fabrication and prototyping skills
- A high level of mechanical sympathy and experience with precision assembly
- Prior work experience producing and integrating wiring harnesses to engineering schematics and specifications
- Strong soldering, electronics assembly, and wire harness skills
- Diverse workshop experience with all manner of conventional power tools (soldering equipment, saws, drills, sanders, grinders, etc.)
- Hands-on experience designing and building assembly tooling and test fixtures a big plus
- Ability to work independently with strong time management
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Proven ability to perform a variety of tasks to tight deadlines
- Electro-mechanical component integration and assembly experience
- Computer hardware and component knowledge
- CNC Machining experience is a plus
- TIG welding experience is a plus

- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
- Requires moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; up to 50 pounds
- Requires walking, standing, sitting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, reaching overhead, twisting, and turning
- Must be able to use hands with fine motor skills in the use of industry specific tools

Requirements (Work Enviroment)

- Comfortable in a workshop environment where metals, wood, and plastic shavings are common
- Ability to work in greenhouse conditions, a wide range of temperatures, humidity, and sunlight
- Occasional loud noises from machinery

- Interest in the farming, food and robotics industries and love the fun of the startup environment and its culture
- General Linux knowledge
- G Suite experience
- Electromechanical test experience
- Experience with environmental sensors and general electronics knowledge
- Experience with indoor farming, hydroponics, food safety a plus
- LEAN manufacturing knowledge and experience
- Forklift experience
- Experience creating SOPs and checklists
