Kyrgyzstan- Community Harvest Sales Advisor

ACDI/VOCA is currently seeking an Agricultural Advisor for an upcoming volunteer assignment in Kyrgyzstan. Local women are requesting volunteer assistance to learn how to organize and combine their harvests of fruits and vegetables to sell at local markets. The selected volunteer will advise the women on topics including grading and labelling, quality standards and proper storage techniques.

Due to the current pandemic, this assignment will take place remotely. The selected volunteer will work in collaboration with a local volunteer who can provide hands on training to the host farmers. The selected volunteer will collaborate with the host participants, local volunteer and ACDI/VOCA field staff using a variety of online methods.

The total time anticipated for this assignment will be approximately 1 week, spread over 2 weeks when the local volunteer will be visiting the host farmers.

***As part of the Farmer-to-Farmer Consortium, this assignment is made possible through USAID funding. In accordance to USAID guidelines, any candidates submitted for consideration under this project must have a valid US passport or Green Card.***

Volunteer Qualifications

  • University degree in Agriculture, Marketing or some other related topic.
  • At least 5 years of experience processing and selling fruits and vegetables at a local level.
  • Experience packaging and marketing produce.
  • Proficient computer and social media skills including Zoom, MS Teams, WhatsApp, etc.
