Georgia, Greenhouse Flower Production Specialist

ACDI/VOCA is currently seeking a Greenhouse Flower Production Specialist for an upcoming volunteer assignment in the Republic of Georgia. Local farmers are requesting volunteer assistance to improve their flower production and overall greenhouse management. The host farmer currently utilizes a large variety of high-quality flower cultivars including celosia, salvia, zinnia, gazania, petunia, among others. Their greenhouse rests on 1.5 hectares of land where they can grow up to 3.5 million flowers year round with a staff of 30 people.

Due to the current pandemic, all international travel has been cancelled for the foreseeable future. Therefore, the selected volunteer from the USA will work remotely and in collaboration with a local volunteer who can provide hands on training to the host participants. The anticipated time commitment is 1 week for the US volunteer and 2 weeks for the local volunteer.

Volunteer Qualifications

• University degree in Floriculture, Horticulture or another related topic.
• At least 5-10 years of experience managing greenhouses.
• Experience growing both annual and perrenial flowers.

• Proficient computer skills including MS Word and Excel
