About the job

As a food and technology enthusiast, you will lead and manage a dynamic and international team to maintain and optimize our smart indoor vertical farming operation, including the equipment and systems throughout the facility.

What you’ll do

  • Lead and manage crop production to meet or exceed operational goals in safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity
  • Follow preventive maintenance procedures on all crop equipment in a timely and thorough manner
  • Maintain the operation of equipment and systems including, but not limited to, compressed air, HVAC, electrical distribution, controls, lighting, and robotics, PLCs conveyors, and other automated machinery
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards/defects/the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure code compliance
  • Develop and execute detailed technological ramp-up procedures
  • Troubleshoot and perform diagnostics on damaged or malfunctioning equipment, make repairs where necessary, or recommend arranging an outside vendor to service the equipment
  • Respond to facility emergency situations
  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and company directives as relates to building operations and practice safe work habits
  • Coordinate and manage the local team in close cooperation with headquarters in Germany

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Management, Manufacturing Technology, or similar
  • 5+ years of relevant work and/or management experience
  • Direct experience with construction, fabrication, assembly, operation, or maintenance of automation systems
  • Able to track and organize project and information
  • Expertise in engineering processes
  • Responsible, flexible, fast learner that has the ability to be a self-starter with a willingness to take on new things
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and consistently meet deadlines
  • Able to successfully keep multiple tasks running simultaneously with strong analytical skills
  • Leading by example to manage and motivate the team to reach our goals
  • Able to provide constructive feedback and creative solutions to problems
  • On-call support for the team as needed
  • Experience working with an ERP system, such as SAP
  • Good command of MS-Office, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
  • Good written and verbal communication in English, Arabic, and Hindi
