Customer Testing Representative

You will lead our efforts to partner with key customers to assess the performance of crop varieties under controlled environment conditions.  These genetics offerings will allow our vertical farming partners to optimize the performance of the crops and maximize the profitability of these customers.  You will be responsible for establishing testing collaborations with these major industry players, design testing protocols and efficiently capture data from trials conducted at their operations. Reporting to the Vice President, Genetics Lead, you will also provide input into the team to help guide the breeding and selection of new varieties.  You will also work closely with the Vice President, Plant Performance Lead and team to guide our internal testing protocols and data analysis and with the Vice President, Product Lead, and team to identify the plant performance traits that help define our product concepts.

Major Responsibilities

•     Establish testing collaborations with major industry players including vertical farming producers, technology collaborators and research partners

•     Design testing protocols that efficiently capture data from trials conducted

•     Design testing strategies that allow us to optimize plant performance in controlled environments

•     Leverage data and analytics to help accelerate selections and predictive breeding approaches

•     Aid in the development of innovations to measure plant performance

•     Reinforce a culture of high performance and digital competency

•     Help to develop and establish an exceptional workplace culture

•     Collaborate effectively with scientific, engineering and technical staff of customers to validate performance and improve product offerings

•     Collaborate effectively with scientific, engineering and technical staff of vendors and other key stakeholders

•     Participate in external plant genetics, breeding and vertical farming symposia and conferences

Qualifications (Required)

Five + years in seed or ag tech industry

M.S. in Genetics, Plant Breeding or related discipline or equivalent experience

Intimate knowledge of how to assess product performance

Proven ability to effectively provide technical support to customers

Strong experimental design and data analytics skills

Strong communications and collaboration skills

Proven ability to work in an agile, high energy, scientifically rigorous organization

Highly Desired

Strong Working knowledge of protected culture and/or vertical farming

Expertise in leafy, solanaceous, and/or cucurbit crops

Business relationships in the vertical farming and/or horticulture communities

Proven ability to partner with technology providers and academics
