ACDI/VOCA is currently seeking a Tree Nursery Specialist for an upcoming volunteer assignment in Armenia. The existing nurseries in Armenia are specialized mainly in fruit-tree sapling production. The scope of this assignment is to help the beneficiaries to improve their skills in fruit-tree production, to meet international standards for similar nurseries, and expand their assortment, considering mixed assortment (fruits and forest species) applicable for agroforestry.
The assignment will last for approximately 2-3 weeks in country, in addition to preparation and research previous to departure. Travel and living expenses are provided.
***As part of the Farmer-to-Farmer Consortium, this assignment is made possible through USAID funding. In accordance to USAID guidelines, any candidates submitted for consideration under this project must have a valid US passport or Green Card.***
Volunteer Qualifications
- University degree in Agroforestry, Arboriculture, Applied Botany or another related topic.
- At least 5-10 years of experience managing tree nurseries and seed banks.
- Experience growing a variety of trees.
- Proficient computer skills including MS Word and Excel
