Is AI actually useful in vertical farming or just hype?

Every vertical farming company now claims to use AI. But what does that actually mean in practice? Is anyone here using machine learning for anything meaningful, like yield prediction, disease detection, or nutrient optimisation? Or is it mostly just automated environmental controls dressed up with buzzwords? Genuinely curious, not trying to be cynical.
