The workshop is part of a series of four workshops under a study commissioned by DG CLIMA on the topic “Reviewing the contribution of the LULUCF sector to the Green Deal”.
The event will be open to the public and structured around a panel discussion which will gather views on principle pathways and approaches for the development of a 2050 climate policy framework.
The event will contribute to the Commission’s ongoing work on carbon farming and explore what a market-based EU carbon farming system supplying the removals for climate neutrality could look like. Experts will discuss the role of farmers, forest owners and the food and feed sector in such a system and explore the contribution of public support and private carbon markets. The role of digital and remote sensing will also be explored.
This vision workshop will be followed by two related workshops, all exploring and explaining opportunities, options, barriers and pathways for the development of a market-based agriculture and forestry sector.
