The Technology Project Director will be responsible for running a technology project management organization to work with our senior team of business professionals on strategic technology planning and project implementation engagements. S/he will help in aligning IT strategy and operations to achieve organizational strategic objectives.

Provide process leadership to the technology project management function across initiatives from concept to implementation, including individual project guidance and mentoring as circumstances dictate. Oversee the management of a mechanism to measure the quality and effectiveness of completed technology development initiatives – ensuring that a total cost of ownership and return on investment are developed for all funded initiatives. Develop appropriate monitoring and reporting necessary for improving the realization of business value from technology project initiatives. Ensure effective communication and change management to increase the adoption rate and effectiveness of new business solutions. Understand all technology project financials for proposed and funded technology projects. Drive continuous improvement of technology project management processes. Establish technology project management processes and templates to institutionalize program management. Establish and maintain a resource planning capability to identify resource capacity and load.  Work with staff to align project load with capacity. Conduct briefing sessions with the company leadership to review the technology project portfolio, schedules and release plans. Lead multiple mid-size to enterprise-wide technology projects concurrently following the standard project delivery process. Advocate, promote and lead the institutionalization of technology project management best practices, standards, and policies. Perform other duties as required.

Equivalent of a Bachelor’s Degree in related field, advanced degree in Computer Science or an MBA is desirable. More than five years progressively responsible, related prior experience managing cross-functional projects and programs. Portfolio Management experience a plus. Ability to synthesize complex business and technical data. Strong project management skills, preferably with relevant certifications (PMP, certified Scrum Master, etc). Experience coaching and mentoring others in project management best practices and business analysis. Experience using project management tools such as MS Project, SmartSheet, Jira, etc. Proven ability to gather, understand, document, and communicate business requirements and to translate these into systems specifications / project deliverables. Knowledge of software development lifecycle methodologies; track record working with vendors employing waterfall, agile and hybrid approaches. Excellent planning, organizing, budgeting, verbal, writing, executive presentation, and meeting management skills. Ability to interact effectively across organization / diverse cultures, and communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively. Ability to interact effectively with outside vendors and achieve the maximum benefit for internal business constituents when procuring products and services from outside entities. Initiative to identify and communicate opportunities to contribute additional value to internal clients. Ability to align / focus resources across the organization in achieving short and long-term goals. Self-motivated, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative. NGO industry experience or experience working in a grant-funded business preferred.
